COMMUNITY
SERVICES

The community services section solely deals with the community direct. The section engages in activities such as; schools, Child Protection, Orphans and Vulnerable Children and provision of recreational facilities to the community. Thus, Community Services as the name explains itself is a field work section that works hand in hand with the community.

Its terms of reference are:

  1. NGOs
  2. Child protection
  3. Orphans and vulnerable children

We also collect revenue from street vendors. Of the total amount collected, a requisition of 25% is being released to pay tuition fees for the orphans in the three schools namely Dingumuzi Primary School, Allan Red Fern and Phakamani Secondary School.

  1. Provision of recreational services
  • Provision of stadiums, tennis courts, beer halls, community halls and football pitches.

1. SAFETY NETS:

Every year we conduct a Chairperson’s Christmas Cheer Fund where a selection committee for the less privileged was formed from wards representatives and some stakeholders.

HEALTH HOUSING AND EDUCATION COMMITTEE

  1. To ensure health services in the form of refuse collection, street cleaning, pest control, infectious diseases control and waste disposal are adequately provided.
  2. Ensure availability of preventive and curative health services in the form of hospitals and clinics.
  3. Provision of community services/ facilities accommodation and development.
  4. Adequate educational services/ infrastructure and social welfare facilities.
  5. Allocation and or development of residential, educational as well as recreational facilities in liaison with the Engineering department and line ministries like health, department of physical planning and department of Physical planning.
  6. Coming up with and recommending tariffs to Council for inclusion in the final estimates.

AUDIT COMMITTEE

Established in terms of section 97 of the Act, the Audit Committee meets once a month. The terms of reference of the committee are as follows:
  1. To inquire into and report upon the matter in which the finances of the Council, its assets and human resources are being used;
  2. To call for information, explanations and evidence in respect of any matters in respect of which the auditors have made observations
  3. To receive and consider reports of internal and external auditors and make appropriate recommendations of the Council
